Meet Yakima Family Dentist Bruce Kinney

Dr. Bruce Kinney has made Yakima his family’s home for over 30 years.  His professional training included a BS degree from Washington State University and a DDS degree with honors from the University of Washington.  He moved to Yakima after a post-doctoral resident year in the University of Washington Hospital system.

Dr. Kinney’s dental practice emphasizes quality care.  He is an active member of the Yakima Prosthodontic Society, a dental continuing education study club.  After appointment by the Governor of Washington State, he served on the Washington State Board of Dental Examiners and the Washington State Dental Quality Assurance Commission.  He became involved in dental licensing examinations and has served as an examiner, board member, and President of the Western Regional Examining Board.  This organization conducts the clinical testing for all dentists in most of the western states—including Washington.  After completing his term as President, he was elected to the Board of the American Association of Dental Examiners and served as national President.

He remains active in the American Dental Association as a Consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation, Washington State Dental Association as an elected member to the House of Delegates and the Yakima Dental Society.

He is privileged to be a member of the American College of Dentistry and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.  These are Honorary dental organizations recognizing his years of service to the profession.  This fall he will be inducted into the International College of Dentists at it’s annual meeting.

Dr. Kinney has been active in our local community as well.  He served over 20 years on the Yakima Valley Speech and Hearing Center including two as President of the Board of Directors.  He has been active in the Downtown Rotary Club and has served and Chairman of the Youth Exchange Committee and the International District 5060.

Our staff is dedicated to providing the highest level of dental care to our patients. We have many years of skilled dental experience, providing quality care for the families of Yakima and the Yakima Valley.

Darlene graduated from YVCC Dental Hygiene School in 1998. She is a member of the Washington State Dental Hygiene Association, affiliate member of the Washington Dental Association and board member of the Yakima Children’s Oral Health Foundation. Darlene joined the practice in 2000.

Karen is a registered dental hygienist who has been working for Dr. Kinney for five years. She graduated from YVCC Dental Hygiene School in 2001.

Patty is a registered dental hygienist who has been working for Dr. Kinney since 2009. She graduated from the YVCC Dental Hygiene School in 2005.

LaVaun graduated from Loma Linda University in California. She has been practicing dental hygiene for 17 years and joined Dr. Kinney’s team in 2003.

Denise is an office administrator with 30 years dental experience both clinically and front office. She attended Kinman Business University’s dental assisting program, joining Dr. Kinney’s team in 2000.

Mary has 10 years of front office experience. She completed 2 years at Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center. She joined our team in 2008 as a business assistant.

Christy is a chairside dental assistant who began her career in 1991. She has been with Dr. Kinney since 1999.

Carmen joined the practice of Dr. Bruce Kinney in 1985. She began her career as a dental assistant 30 years ago.

Julie has been a chairside dental assistant since graduating from YV-Tech in 1981.  She joined Dr. Kinney’s team in 2001.
